Hello friends, My sweet bunny, Dash, has been through so much. Last year he developed a parasitic infection in his right eye (Encephalitozoon cuniculi), which caused a cataract and abscess. Despite months of care, the infection left him blind in that eye and has caused ongoing pain and inflammation. Our veterinary ophthalmologist at Animal Eye Care of Cary says the best and kindest option now is to remove the damaged eye (enucleation) so Dash can finally be comfortable and free of pain. The surgery will take place at their Wake Forest, NC location. The total cost is estimated between $1,110–$1,300, plus the pre-surgery check-ups with an exotic animal vet to ensure he’s strong enough for anesthesia( total could be 3,000) I love Dash dearly and just want him to live a happy, pain-free life — but I can’t afford this surgery on my own.
