Dash isn’t just a pet—he’s an important source of comfort, stability, and emotional support for Macie. Macie is a bright and loving young lady with Down syndrome, and Dash plays a meaningful role in helping her feel safe, calm, and supported each day. He first came into their lives as a lost stray—truly a found blessing that Macie’s brothers rescued on a walk—and the bond was immediate. Macie’s family is currently living in Bahrain. Given the uncertainties in the region, having the ability for Dash to remain by Macie’s side—especially during travel—is a key part of supporting her well-being.
Macie’s family is now taking the next step to have Dash trained and certified as a Psychiatric Service Dog so he can safely and reliably accompany her in all aspects of life, including travel on planes, trains, and in other public settings. To make this possible, Dash has been accepted into an intensive professional training program. This “boot camp” will provide the specialized skills and certification he needs to best support Macie. The program is fast-paced and immersive: 4 weeks of full-time residential training and approximately 6 weeks total for completion.
Macie’s family is hoping to begin training as soon as possible to ensure Dash is ready to support her. Any contribution helps Dash get one step closer to becoming a fully trained service dog. If donating isn’t possible, sharing this page would mean so much to Macie’s family. Thank you for supporting Dash and Macie on this important journey.
