Calling on our enlightenedly chaotic cõmmünîty of freaks and friends across the cosmos to pullllll together in a rare moment of support toward securing housing, safety + stability for the legendary *Matriarchs* responsible for the existence of our SUUUPER SPECIAL FRIEND: *Darya Marika Farhoodi *~*~*~*~*!
Our inarguably gifted friend left behind a glamorous life of 99₵ abundance to dedicate a year providing care and support to her modest matriarchal-makers in Hawaii after they were priced out of living in west Los Angeles. It is now three whole damn years later, and literally an ocean away, literally amongst volcanoes, she’s still tirelessly fighting to help Mom (FUMIKO) and Grandma (YOKO) navigate through Yoko’s intensifying needs due to progressing dementia.
Whereas they had been managing to squeeze by through the pandemic, shit is now hitting the fan, as recent events have left them faced with the grief of sudden oncoming displacement from their current living situation. In addition to the financial strain, recent incidents have resurfaced long-standing trauma in a major way. We, her close friends, feel that it's imperative for Darya and her family to find the space and safety to move beyond this difficult experience so that she may recover and allow herself the care she needs. This added burden is clearly not good for business, as it poses a real threat to the family’s ability to stay afloat . And being the loyal warrior dragon daughter she is, Darya cannot peacefully rest, or return to us, until she knows Yoko and Fumiko are kept safe from falling into the lazy yet evil clutches of this tired ass capitalist vacuum.

Hi friends n strangers
Currently navigating a bummer wave of situations that have destabilized housing for me, my mom, and my super special grandma Yoko. Yoko is 89! And a resilient champion like my mom. She loves to butter up the world around her with a constant stream of adoration and is committed to telling everything and everyone how cute they are. No human, animal, banana tree, or candy wrapper is too peripheral to escape her constant serenade of appreciation. Clearly a Libra.
The pandemic has hit us pretty hard financially. My mom works full time but I left my hospice job due to covid concerns clashing with grandma care last year. Yoko has progressed dementia and this past year her condition has escalated significantly so I am currently unable to work a regular job as I am providing full time care and help w all daily needs. I haven’t received UI since July and my appeal has been gathering cobwebs for the past 8 months or so. We don’t have savings or a security net. Our cheap rent that has been our saving grace to make it work thus far has now become untenable due to a really disastrously timed Bad Situation that I would deeply like for us to have the space, safety, and mental real estate to heal from.
So we have approached The Boss Level Tough Time. If it was only me being displaced I would just bounce with my pocket change and figure it out in a precarious but familiar way, but that is not the current situation. My mom and grandma are seniors and deserve the baseline of comfort and safety in a difficult time.
It gives me a bit of neon anxiety to ask for big help in a clear voice but I really do need it right now to solidify a harmonious/safe environment for my mom and gma. So I am asking for community support to attain stability through the next year as I navigate a mountain of paperwork and lengthy waitlist for affordable long term care options for Yoko, and sustainable housing for my mom.
The money raised will be used to secure new housing and fill in our monthly rent gap as we wait for openings in the previously mentioned options. If we can meet our goal, funds will also go towards arranging in-home nursing care for Yoko which would free up my schedule to get part time employment at the very least. Would like my last year being Yoko’s sidekick to be as calm as possible so I can focus on healing/making grand sunset memories/having the luxury of focusing on other things like fried chicken, karaoke, her Libran odyssey of denying the relevance of language barriers on her quest to compliment EVERYTHING EVER FOREVER, and other pleasantries of life.
