My name is Darryl, I am 45 years old and I have had cerebral palsy since birth. I am able to drive and I work at a nursing home one day a week, but I am not good at reading and although I am able to get around, I cannot do jobs that require manual labor due to my condition. I am working with an advisor to help me find more work and I have applied for many part time jobs, but no one will hire me.

I live in Maine and reside with my father who is 70 years old and is not doing well so I have to take care of him and myself. My father is now largely confined to a wheelchair and he depends on me to get him to his medical appointments and such. I am struggling to make enough money to take care of myself and my father. I was just informed that my boss has reduced my hours even more. Before I was working one day a week (I used to work 3 days per week), but I've been told that I will only be working one day per month now.

During the pandemic, I lost my job at Kentucky Fried Chicken and I wasn't sure what to do, so I went on the internet and got some credit cards to help buy groceries and rent. The credit card companies have been calling me every day and I'm trying to pay them back, but it's hard being disabled and only working one day a week. I can't ask the credit card companies to reduce my debt because I might lose my social security and I'm worried I won't be able to find a job if I have to go through bankruptcy.

I have been trying to find someone to help me take care of my credit card debt, but no one will help me. I don't like to ask for help, but please help me and my dad. If our rent goes up again, we will not be able to buy food and medicine and I'm not sure what I can do if that happens.
