All He Wants For Christmas Is His Two Front Teeth
Donation protected
For those who don't know, Darrin McAlister was hit by a car walking home Thursday evening, November 7th. He doesn't remember getting hit, doesn't remember getting home. Woke up covered in blood and in a lot of pain and knowing something was wrong.
We're lucky - he's walking, he's talking, he's going to be okay long term. But he had four teeth knocked out and it's going to take considerable financial investment to get him back up to the smiling, laughing guy we all know and love. He was also out of work for 10 days, which as a bartender means there's some financial impact there, as well.
For those who don't know him, or maybe haven't seen him in a while, I can't tell you how much he deserves every bit of help he gets here. He won't brag on himself, so as his sister, I'm gonna do it for him:
- Every summer and fall, he dedicates every bit of free time he has to coaching peewee football. He doesn't have a kid on the team, but he loves giving back to the sport he loved and does it with a passion for helping those boys grow on and off the field
- When our mom passed away, he stepped up and offered to do half-day daycare for his nieces (2 and 5 at the time). Never let us pay him for his time, just knew it was what we wanted and needed for the girls and did it with a smile. He has such an amazing relationship with his nieces!
- Stepped up to help a friend in need when their child was born very premature, rallying to find donations for a fundraiser auction and working to pick things up and get them to the auction in time.
- Countless fundraisers, charity golf tournaments, guest bartender events... you name it, if you're in need, he's there. Now it's his turn.
He's already wracking up medical bills, especially dental. He's looking at 4 months or more for his "full recovery." Any little bit will help!
