Three weeks ago, my son and daughter in law face timed me to share the exciting news that they are expecting their first child (my first grand baby) The tears of joy and happy hearts were full that day. Fast forward to ten days ago… I woke up to the call that every parent dreads. 6:30 am and my phone is blowing up! I answer the call and it’s my son’s mother in law informing me that my son was brutally shot while he was driving home from work late at night. This was an unnecessary and random act of violence.
Darren works a full time job as a chef, is going to school part time to be an electrician and took on another part time job at night working for fedex to save up for the baby.
The good news is he will recover. The bullet entered his right thigh and excited through his groin. The bad news is, he’s completely out of work for the next foreseeable future, his car was impounded and is being held as evidence in the crime and he doesn’t have medical insurance to cover his medical bills. The bullet did not damage any major organs but his hamstring is blown and he will need physio therapy when he’s able to move around.
If you know Darren then you know he’s a proud man who works hard and takes care of his family. This gofundme was 100% my idea as he would never ask anyone for help. I’m hoping that our family and friends will take that into consideration. As a momma, the only thing I want is to be there with him to help him recover but that’s just not possible so I’m asking for help to help my oldest baby get better.
