November, 2024 our family was dealt a life-altering card when Darren was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, Group 3. A high-risk grade 4 brain cancer. Since that day, his life has been shaped by intense treatments, long hospital stays, and life long challenges. Darren fought bravely, and while cancer treatment may be behind him, the journey is not over.
Today, Darren is learning how to live with lasting impairments caused by both the tumor and its treatment: loss of balance, blindness in his left eye, progressive hearing loss, and ongoing struggles with eating and daily tasks. These are the invisible battles many cancer survivors face as they work to regain independence and a sense of normalcy.
This GoFundMe is focused on helping Darren improve his quality of life through physical therapy, adaptive tools, and sessions with specialized professionals. Unfortunately, many of these supports are considered “elective” and are not covered by insurance of any kind, despite being essential to Darren’s recovery and long-term independence.
While we stand by Darren every step of the way, the financial strain from medical care, therapy, travel, and time away from work has been significant. Our hope is to not only meet these immediate needs but also create a small savings fund to give Darren stability, security, and hope as he continues to move forward.
Every donation, share, and kind word reminds Darren that he is not alone in this fight. Thank you for wrapping him in love, compassion, and support—it truly means more than words can express. ❤️
