Help Darolyn Gulbranson with her Amazing Recovery

Donation protected
Mom’s life was radically changed on June 20th this year when she suffered a brain aneurysm. She was air lifted from Duluth to Abbott NorthWestern in Minneapolis where she would spend the next five weeks. The progress she made was truly amazing and she was able to come back to Duluth to rehabilitate at Ecumen Lakeshore. She loved it there and was making amazing strides. Unfortunately, her insurance provider decided she was well enough to go home after only three weeks, even against the advice of the health care providers that were taking care of her. She didn’t even make it into her house before she fell and hit her head on the driveway. This was especially frightening since she has a permanent shunt in her head to help her brain drain excess fluids due to the aneurysm. She was brought to St. Luke's hospital by ambulance where she spent a week, and then right back to Ecumen where she arrived weaker than when she had left. While all of this was going on, Dad had a pre-scheduled and necessary back surgery and was in St. Luke's at the same time as Mom and even ended up at Ecumen doing some rehab himself at the same time mom was there. He’s home now and doing well, but once again the insurance company is kicking mom out before anyone thinks she is ready. Unfortunately, she is not able to go home to be with Dad quite yet because he still has restrictions from his surgery and is not able to safely take care of her. The next safest and financially smart solution is for mom to rent an apartment at an assisted living place where she can go, be safe, and get stronger to be able to go back home. This is where we ask for some help. Several of mom and dad's friends and family have asked how they can give financially these past few months with what is inevitably a huge burden. We would just love mom to be able to get through this last hurdle at the assisted living location and be able to rejoin dad in a month at home without worrying about the bill. They would hate for us to be asking this as they are very proud people, but we want to provide an avenue for people to help them out during this time. Any little bit you can spare is amazing, and if you are not able to donate, please just keep her in your thoughts for continued healing and strength. It is truly amazing that she has made it through all of this, and she just wants to get back home to Dad and her dog Willow.
