Darlene has always dreamed of having a loyal companion by her side. For nearly six months, she visited shelters and humane societies, hoping to find the perfect pet. Each time she found a dog she connected with, someone else had already reserved or adopted them before she even had a chance to meet them. Despite the setbacks, Darlene never gave up hope.
One day, she discovered a little Terrier mix at the humane society. She rushed over, asked if the dog was still available, and was relieved to hear she could put 'dibs' on her. After waiting through the required hold for strays, Darlene received the call that the dog was hers. She named her new friend Dibs, excited to finally welcome her home. But at Dibs' first vet visit, my mom learned that Dibs had likely been bred multiple times - not good for such a small dog - causing problems with her rear legs and surgery is recommended, also needs extensive dental surgery, and other care. As a retired senior on a fixed income, my mom is now facing the heartbreaking possibility of having to return Dibs if she can't afford the care she needs.
Darlene's love for Dibs is clear, and she wants nothing more than to give her a safe, happy home. The funds raised will go directly to Dibs' dental surgery, other recommended veterinary care, and follow-up visits. Your support will help keep this sweet 8-pound snuggle bug with the person who needs her most. Thank you for considering any help you can provide to my mom and her new best friend.
