Dear family, friends, and kind-hearted strangers, my name is Darlene and I’ve recently been diagnosed with Stage 1 lung cancer. As you can imagine, this news has turned my world upside down.

While I’m grateful that it was caught early and that treatment is possible, the road ahead will be challenging — physically, emotionally, and financially.

I will be undergoing surgery and treatment soon and will be out of work for a while to focus on healing.

Unfortunately, not all of my medical costs are covered by insurance. I’m facing high out-of-pocket expenses for medications, doctor visits, and other treatments.

In addition to these medical costs, I will need financial assistance to keep up with my regular household bills — like mortgage, utilities, groceries, and transportation — while I'm unable to work.
