Hi my name is Darlene (Darla) Cooper, and I’m the wife of Nathaniel Cooper Jr. We are the proud parents of three beautiful daughters: Amiah (15), Gabrielle (11), and Joahna (5).

On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, my husband was on his way to work at Walmart on the West side of Colorado Springs riding his E-scooter when an unexpected rainstorm hit. The rain came out of nowhere, and he hit a pothole that was hidden beneath the water. He fell hard and, unfortunately, broke his hip.

We had to purchase the E-scooter last year after his car’s transmission went out. We couldn’t afford the repair, so we’ve been making do ever since. This accident couldn’t have come at a worse time. We've been struggling to stay on top of bills and basic living expenses, and now we're facing months without his income while he recovers. Doctors expect he’ll be out of work for at least four months.

My husband is a proud and hardworking man who never asks for help. He believes that if he can’t provide on his own, he's letting his family down. But right now, we are in real need. We have three beautiful young daughters to care for, and without his paycheck, we don’t know how we’re going to make it through the next few months.
