Darla Arrington is probably one of the most amazing people I've ever met. She has spent her life caring for everyone. As a nurse, if you were her coworker you were her sister because you shared her desire to help and heal people. If you were her patient you were damn lucky because you were her number one priority while in her care. If you're a friend or family you are 100% better for knowing her. She would give to anyone at her own sacrifice  if they were in need. 
Over the last several years, Darla's health has  declined. She continued to work through her pain, fatigue and symptoms because that's Darla. In June of this year her symptoms became too much for her to tolerate and continue to work so she had to take a leave of absence. As the primary support of her family this was a great hardship. Darla began seeing 3 specialists to find answers into why she was feeling so awful. Her Rheumatologist, Gastroenterologist, and Bariatric Surgeon all began working together to determine cause and plan for Darla's health issues. After MANY laboratory and diagnostic testing along with a surgery to repair her inguinal hernias which caused her great pain she was not feeling better but starting to get answers. The results of all those tests have shown Darla has Fibromyalgia, Fatty Liver disease, Diverticulosis, Colon Polyp, Lupus, Diabetes, tumors on her kidneys and spleen and a Hiatal Hernia. The final test was a liver Fibroscan to see what stage her fatty liver was at. We were devastated to discover she has Non-Alcoholic Cirrhosis. At this point, Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery is suggested by ALL Darla's specialists as the best course of action to significantly improve her overall health and most importantly to stop the progression of Cirrhosis. Her Bariatric Doctor stated without this surgery, she would need a liver transplant. Unfortunately, Darla's insurance does not cover Gastric Bypass. The out of pocket cost is $25,739.  With no income and the inability to work Darla needs our help. This woman who would and has given every bit of herself to care for others needs care from others now.  She has so much compassion and love for her family, friends and patients.
