Our sweet 2-year-old, Darius Minor Jr., affectionately known as DJ, is currently facing an unimaginable health battle. What started as concerning symptoms has rapidly escalated into a complex and painful ordeal, and we're reaching out for your urgent support to help him on his long road to recovery.

DJ's Heartbreaking Journey



Just a week before being admitted to Children's Hospital, our lively DJ, who loves to play and explore, suddenly stopped walking. He had also developed an ear infection and a persistent cough. Soon after, we noticed worrying bumps appearing on his body, and his hands, feet, and forehead began to swell alarmingly. After extensive testing, DJ received multiple challenging diagnoses: Henoch-Schönlein Purpura (HSP), a rare form of Vasculitis, and Transient Synovitis, which together caused an extremely painful, arthritis-like condition in his hips, making it agonizing for him to even attempt to walk. He was also diagnosed with Parainfluenza 3. The pain is so severe that DJ now cries frequently and no longer sleeps through the night.

As if this wasn't enough, DJ then developed Orbital Cellulitis, a serious infection that has caused his eye to be completely shut, adding to his discomfort and distress.

The most critical and terrifying development came when doctors discovered that DJ's small intestines were twisted. This severe complication has caused him to begin vomiting frequently and experience rectal bleeding, rendering him unable to eat or drink anything. He is now entirely dependent on medical interventions for nutrition and hydration.

The Immense Impact on DJ and Our Family

DJ's condition is incredibly serious, and he's currently undergoing intensive treatment in the hospital. The medical team is working tirelessly, but he faces a very long and challenging recovery. There's a strong possibility that he'll require further surgeries to address the twisted intestines and other complications that may arise from HSP.

This journey is not only emotionally devastating but also creating an immense financial burden on our family. Since DJ first became ill and was admitted, his parents haven't left the hospital. His condition continues to change rapidly, requiring their constant presence and support, making it impossible for them to go to work. The costs of hospital stays, specialized medical treatments, potential surgeries, medications, rehabilitation, and the unforeseen expenses of being by his side constantly are overwhelming. We anticipate significant medical bills that our insurance may not fully cover, along with severe lost wages as we dedicate ourselves solely to DJ's urgent care.
