Jeremiah 33:6 “Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.”
On January 28th, 2025, my baby boy Darius was diagnosed with leukemia cancer at just 8 years old. Darius is the smartest, bravest, and most resilient little boy I know. My son was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau, Bahamas, on January 6th, 2025. Prior to his admission, my son complained of severe abdominal pains accompanied by fever, chills, and constipation. During the course of Darius’ admission, which was two weeks, the diagnosis we received was that he is anemic and that he had a gastrointestinal infection. Darius was discharged and sent home and was told that he would have to follow up with the doctor in a week’s time. At his follow-up appointment, the doctor requested additional bloodwork to see what his blood count looked like at that present time. They took blood from him and told us that they’d reach out with the results. The following morning, we got a call from the doctor stating that Darius’ blood count was extremely low and that the infection he had was back, so he needed to be readmitted. We refused and told the doctors that we’d seek medical attention elsewhere. We took him to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for further treatment and diagnosis.
On January 25th, 2025, Darius was admitted into Salah Foundation Children’s Hospital for the same symptoms. The doctors at SFCH ran a number of tests and saw that his blood count was still extremely low, and they also discovered that he didn’t have any white blood cells either. Shortly after, Darius received two blood transfusions along with other medications. Test results came back, and doctors found some cells that could potentially be leukemia, but they didn’t confirm until they did a bone marrow test. Two days later, the bone marrow test was done, and it confirmed that my precious baby boy was diagnosed with leukemia cancer.
Receiving this news absolutely tore my family and me apart. It’s like our lives did a full 360 turn overnight. I never once imagined being in this situation, but I know God didn’t bring us this far to leave us, and I know that he’s going to heal my baby boy. My family and I are seeking your help during this difficult time, and any help is greatly appreciated. Your prayers would be greatly appreciated as well.
For this battle is not Darius’ own; it’s the Lord’s.
