Hello everyone! My names Jasmin, and I have created a GoFundMe for my Sister Darion, who unfortunately has gone through a Traumatic birth, leaving her to live with the hopefully temporarily mistake that the surgeons have made.
My goal is to raise some funds to take away the financial burden that Darion faces. Please read her story below.
Darion Becket is a 30 year old Woman who has always dreamed of becoming a Mum.
On the 21st of June, 2025, my Sister finally accomplished that beautiful dream of hers, and welcomed a beautiful healthy baby girl.. but unfortunately it was in one of the most Traumatic ways, which has left her body and mental state scarred.
Darion suffers from 3 major autoimmune diseases.
1. ITP - Immune Thrombocytopenia.; ITP may occur when the immune system mistakenly attacks platelets.
2. LUPUS; Lupus is an autoimmune disease, meaning the body's immune system, which normally protects against infections, turns against itself and attacks healthy tissue.
Lupus is a long-term illness, and while it can be managed, it cannot be cured.
3. APS - Antiphospholipid Syndrome; Is an autoimmune disorder that causes the immune system to mistakenly produce antibodies that attack healthy cells in the body. This leads to an increased risk of blood clots forming in both veins and arteries. APS can also cause complications during pregnancy, such as miscarriages, stillbirths, or premature births. There is no cure.
Darion was first diagnosed with ITP in 2020. This was only the beginning of her struggles. She was later also diagnosed with LUPUS and APS. These 3 diseases affect her everyday life, making it challenging to live a normal day like most of us are able too. She has previously spent over a year on Steroids, which essentially did nothing. On October 27th, 2022, she underwent one round of Chemotherapy(immunotherapy). Luckily it was successful and brought her platelet numbers up. This was the first time in years that her platelets were stabilised.
DARION'S PREGNANCY WITH APS.
To reduce the impact of APS, every single day of her pregnancy, Darion had to inject herself with a syringe of Clexane.
This was to thin out her blood, which would prevent any clots from forming and travelling to her placenta, and prevent the risk of Stroke’s occurring.
Every single day was a blessing, but also an anxious one, hoping and praying that she and her unborn baby would be okay.
On top of Darion's 3 Autoimmune diseases, Darion spent every single day vomiting due to also having Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG). For a part of her Pregnancy, she had to have regular fluids via a drip to avoid dehydration. This meant she often had to leave work unpaid, as she was unable to continue her duties, leaving a financial strain on her.
BIRTH / TRAUMA.
Darion was induced on the 20th of June, but unfortunately her birthing experience didn’t go to plan. Despite Darion's failed attempts, neither the Midwives or Obstetricians could bring her baby into this world safely. So a C-section was advised.
Due to Darion’s APS, things were even more dangerous as the likelihood of haemorrhaging was almost guaranteed. She was 10cm dilated which increases the risk of haemorrhaging even more.
Of course, she haemorrhaged. Darion almost died. She lost almost 4Litres of blood.
Upon saving her life, a mistake was made. The surgeons accidentally ‘damaged’ one her Ureta tubes. This wasn’t identified until shortly after, which meant that nothing could be done at that time due to the blood loss and the risk.
After spending multiple hours in intensive recovery, Darion finally was reunited with her anxious partner and their baby girl. This is when she was greeted with the heartbreaking news. She was told by surgeons that it was a mistake that ‘should never of happened’.
A few hours after recovery, they took Darion away for a procedure where they fitted a Nephrostomy bag into Darion’s right kidney, which would come out of her back, and a tube would run down her leg into another bag.
This bag is to be fitted to Darion, for a minimum of 3-4 months, where she will undergo a complicated surgery, to try and reverse the damage that has been accidentally caused.
But until then, Darion has to visit the Hospital in 6 Weeks to have the tube connecting her kidney to the bag, changed.
This means that Darion cannot return to work as she so desperately needed too, or live a normal and comfortable life postpartum. For the next 3-4 months, she will be trying her best to avoid infection from this bag, to try to adjust to her new normal, to try and recover physically ALL while becoming a new Mum. Only to go through it all again when she undergoes Surgery to hopefully reverse the damage.
Our Mum managed to squeeze out 4 weeks of home visits from Nurses to ensure the safe and sterile changing of her Bag.
But after those 4 weeks, Darion is to be left stranded to find and pay for her own source of help.

This has taken a huge emotional toll on both Darion & her partner Brad as they try their best to navigate a newborn life, as well as recovery with almost no help.
If you feel moved to support Darion in any way, whether by donating or simply sharing her story, it would mean the world to us all.
Your kindness would not only help keep the new parents going— but it would also show that she is not alone in this.
On behalf of Darion and her family, we Thank you deeply for sharing, and supporting us through this difficult & vulnerable time.
