Help Darby Lamb

This fundraiser is for Darby Lamb. As some of you may know, Darby was in a terrible car accident on June 3rd. It took first responders several hours to get him out of the car. He was air lifted to UMMC where he has been in SICU since. His injuries are severe and life threatening. His initial injuries are a cervical spine injury leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. Also an aortic tear, collapsed lung, severe facial fractures , head and left eye lacerations, left wrist fracture, and brain bleed.

On Friday morning, he had spinal surgery on his neck that placed two rods. They also did eye surgery on his left eye. These were well tolerated and since then he has been able to nod his head and lift both of his arms on command. His brain bleed is also stable.

They have had him resting on the vent, but they had to place several chest tubes due to recurrent collapsed lungs, but they have been weaning him off the vent and as of today, they have pulled the vent and both chest tubes and his breathing is improving!

On Monday he went in for surgery on his aorta, and the repair went well!

At this time, the plan moving forward is evolving. They are certain he will require extensive and prolonged rehab, and very likely more surgeries for his many injuries.

The road for our beloved friend, Darby will be a long and painful one. He is not alone and will have his 4 loving children, Andrew (14), Will (9), Ben (8), and Grace (6) to support and motivate him.

I am a friend of the family and have set this up for the benefit of Darby and his family. All information that has been detailed above has been done so with the family’s consent. Darby and his family will be the sole beneficiaries from this fundraiser. These funds will be used to help with the medical/hospital bills.
