A 4-alarm fire destroyed several homes on my block on December 22nd including my own. I had to evacuate in the middle of the night and had to leave my belongings behind due to smoke contamination and destruction by the FDNY. Unfortunately I did not have renter's insurance (this is your sign) and I will subletting until the spring as I search for Home again.
90% of my belongings are gone.
I won't be able to replace things that are sentimental to me, but I do have to buy all new clothes, shoes, furniture, kitchenware, vacuum, blender, electric toothbrush, books, art -- everything.
I'm slowly regaining stability but it's coming at a heavy price. Anything you can contribute helps <3
