Hi, our names are Kim and Colin, and we’re currently fostering a very special puppy named Daphne through Promise 4 Paws. Daphne recently survived being hit by a car and now needs two surgeries to repair both of her back legs.

After consulting with our veterinarian, we learned that one surgery (on her hip) is a standard procedure with an excellent recovery outlook. The second surgery is much more complex. The bone in her back leg has already started healing in the wrong position, which means she needs a board-certified orthopedic surgeon to correct it and prevent permanent deformity and lifelong pain.

Your support will help cover the cost of both surgeries, imaging and her recovery so Daphne can learn to walk and run again.

We first saw Daphne on the Riverside County Department of Animal Services website where her bio had a medical note attached. Her Animal ID is A1887478, she’s about eight months old, and we believe she’s a shepherd mix who weighs just 20 lbs. Even after everything she has endured, she is overflowing with love and joy.

After confirming with the shelter that she had been brought in by animal control on November 13th with both back legs injured, most likely from being hit by a car, we knew she would need significant medical care. We also saw that no rescues had yet stepped forward to help her. We couldn’t bear the thought of this young, injured puppy sitting in a kennel without the urgent treatment she deserved. We reached out to our contacts at Promise 4 Paws, explained her situation, and they graciously offered to pull her for us if we would foster. We didn’t hesitate and said yes immediately.

Once Daphne was safely in our home, our veterinarian examined her injuries in more detail. He confirmed that while her hip surgery can be performed locally, her damaged knee must be corrected by a veterinary orthopedic specialist. It’s a costly procedure but it’s the only way she’ll be able to live a comfortable, active life. We’re doing everything we can to give her the future she deserves, but we need financial help to make it possible.

Daphne is one of the sweetest and cuddliest puppies we’ve ever met. Every morning she asks for snuggles before breakfast, and she would love nothing more than to play with us and our dogs. But right now, she physically can’t. We can’t wait for the day she can run, hop onto the couch and play like every young dog should. To make that happen, we’re asking for your support.
