Help Save Daphne — A Brave 3-Year-Old Great Pyrenees Facing Cancer
My name is Jake Gorski. I’m a dog trainer local to Morgan Hill and Gilroy of California. I’m asking for help for Daphne, a 3‑year‑old Great Pyrenees mix who has quietly changed hundreds of lives.
Daphne is calm, steady, and full of heart. She assists me with training and rehabilitation—helping fearful, reactive, and high‑stress dogs learn to trust, feel safe, and behave. At home she’s a devoted companion: playful with her uncle (Cameron), glued to her mom (Carina) for cuddles, and hilariously obsessed with food. Daphne isn’t just a pet—she’s a teacher, a comfort, a nanny dog, and a best friend.
A few months ago Daphne developed a limp in her front left leg. After months of tests and scans, veterinarians found a tumor inside the elbow joint. Because of its location, biopsies have been inconclusive. What we know is the mass is growing and causing pain, and the best option to give Daphne the longest, healthiest life is amputation of her front left leg.
This decision has not been made lightly. Carina has already spent more than $20,000 this year on diagnostics, surgeries, and care trying to find answers and give Daphne every chance. The next steps—additional testing and the amputation surgery—are estimated at about $10,000. I set our fundraiser goal at $20,000 to help cover the surgery, physical therapy, medication, and so Carina and Daphne can focus on recovery.
Carina has also been navigating her own health challenges this year (she was diagnosed with Adult-onset Still’s disease). There have been times when even small physical tasks become impossible during flare‑ups, and the added medical and financial strain has made an already difficult year even harder for her.
Dogs adapt remarkably well after amputation, and many go on to live long, active, happy lives. Removing the tumor would stop Daphne’s pain and give her the best possible future—continuing to help other dogs and be the loving companion she is.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps Daphne get the care she needs. If you can’t donate, sharing this page with friends, family, and pet communities means the world to us. I'll be donating what I can, her family will help out, but it takes a village for vet bills these days.
Thank you for helping Daphne get a chance at the life she deserves.
