Help Me Finish My Final Dance Season Strong and Step Into My Future
Hi, my name is Daphne, and this year is one of the most meaningful of my life. It’s my senior year, my final season as a competitive dancer after 12 years, and my last year dancing in my high school’s dance program, all while preparing to audition and take the next step toward a future in dance. Dance has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started dancing when I was 2, began competitive dancing at 5, and have been dedicated to it for 12 years. It has shaped who I am, teaching me discipline, confidence, resilience, creativity, perseverance, and giving me a voice when words weren’t enough.
This year is bittersweet. I’m closing an incredible chapter while working hard to open the next one. In addition to training and performing, I also teach dance to younger students at my studio, working with both academy and company dancers. I have been a dance assistant for 4 years and a student teacher for 2. In these years, I’ve had the opportunity to teach 8 classes and mentor over 15 dancers in one-on-one sessions. These opportunities have helped me grow not only as a dancer, but as a leader and mentor. Giving back to the dance community that has given me so much means everything to me, and it’s a huge part of who I am as an artist.
This year, I've been invited to several exciting opportunities tied to my senior year to further my dance education and career. These include for college dance programs such as Fordham University in NYC, Marymount Manhattan College in NYC, the University of Arizona, Mercyhurst University, and the London Institute of Contemporary Dance, along with many others. I've also been invited to attend dance intensives and workshops with respected programs and instructors including Northwest Dance Project in Portland. At the same time, I’m continuing my final competitive season with three regional competitions and one national competition still ahead. These opportunities are incredibly exciting and represent the next step toward my future in dance, but they also come with significant costs for travel, audition fees, and preparation.
This fundraiser will help cover the expenses that make this final year and these opportunities possible, including:
- Travel and lodging for auditions, competitions, and intensives
- Dancewear, costumes, and shoes for competitive and school performances
- Competition entry fees and school dance program expenses
- Audition fees, workshops, and professional training opportunities
- Senior year and graduation related costs
Every contribution helps relieve financial stress and allows me to focus fully on training, performing, teaching, and giving my absolute best during this important year. This year represents both an ending and a beginning, my final bows as a senior competitive and school dancer, and my first steps toward a future in dance. Your support doesn’t just help cover expenses, it helps me chase a dream I’ve worked toward for years.
Whether you’re able to donate, share this page, or leave a message of encouragement, I am deeply grateful for your support. Thank you for believing in me and helping me dance toward my future.
