Jocelyn and her children are picking up the pieces after the tremendous loss of their beloved husband & father Dan after his courageous battle with esophageal cancer. Dan always had a passion for being the helper, whether it was through rescuing dogs, supporting friends, mentoring kids, and helping those affected by hurricanes Florence and Helene through the Benedix Foundation for Disaster Relief. As Jocelyn and her children navigate this new chapter, she desperately needs help from her community. Jocelyn’s main priority is keeping Dan’s “farm,” “Smoke and Wings”, out of foreclosure so she can sell it and both pay off the estates debts as well as support her and the kids, (Sebastian, Rue, and Stella) as they navigate the immense grief of this loss. The pressure of the million other expenses that need to be taken care of after the devastation of cancer has begun to take its toll on the family emotionally and physically. In order for them to be able to heal theyj need to be able to breathe. The funds will be used to pay medical debt, legal fees, maintain household expenses, and support maintaining the mortgage and upkeep of Dan’s beloved 16 acre farm in Cedar Grove, NC, until it can be sold. All money collected will go directly to Jocelyn and her family.

Dan and Jocelyn have always been the first to help others, including continuing to ask that people donate to the support of the Benedix Foundation for Disaster Relief during Dan’s illness and his passing. They simply were unaware of how quickly new expenses would add up. Now it’s Jocelyn and the kids who are dealing with one disaster after another.
