Update on Dano!
Yesterday was spent with anesthesia, surgery prep and surgeon team, a busy day full of prep and good talks.
For those that don't know, my sweetheart has been battling stage 4 cancer of the colon which went into his liver. October they did surgery and removed the cancer, found the spots on the liver had grown double in size, removed the mass in his colon and gave him and ostomy bag to cause faster healing from surgery to get him on chemo quicker and then in Feb come back to remove 60% of his liver after 3 more months of chemo. The chemo was to insure the cancer would stop growing and prevent it from moving into the right side of his liver.
So...fast forward here we are in Feb! So after the chemo, natural remedies and prayers from all... the surgeon said the cancer had shrunk more than 50%!!! YES!!! He said with results like that you are a candidate for the best prognosis ever which is a long and cancer free life! YES!!! They are going to now do a liver resection which is removing some of the middle of the liver where the cancer still resides. They don't believe they need to remove the 60% of it now! YES!!! Plus the fact that Dano put on some weight and ate during chemo, that was HUGE in his favor! He said he is stronger than most in his situation and recovery should go well! YES!!!
Surgery is on Monday! They will be removing part of his liver, his gallbladder and doing a reattachment of his intestine. It will be a long surgery with a long recovery...but I know he is going to pull through this like a freaking champ! We are prepared and ready for this!!! This is the over the hump moment!!!
I appreciate everyone who has been a part of our support system. This has been so hard in so many ways and without the kindness of others...well...I don't even want to think about that! I will continue to do updates next week during and after surgery. I will be sure to post when visitors are welcome. I have my personal support team that will be there while Dan is IN surgery and they will keep me sane and in highest spirits while we lift Dan up in a light of love and positive vibes! During surgery there was a new discovery. The doctors have reported the cancer in his liver has spread quite rapidly. Because of this they were unable to operate on the liver today. The reason being is that they want to get him on chemotherapy as soon as possible which will stop the cancer from spreading anymore. They removed the mass in his colon and the lymph nodes around it today. He will start treatment by the end of the week and have chemotherapy for the next 3 to 5 weeks at which time he will go back and they will operate on the liver. But good news is all of the cancer in the liver is on the right side, the chemotherapy will help keep it there and keep it from spreading anywhere else, after his 3 weeks of chemo he will go back in for surgery again where they will remove the entire right side of his liver as well as his gallbladder.
The doctors feel this is the best and safest plan of action for Dan.
We appreciate everybody's support through all of this. The next few weeks are going to be pretty rough, and the liver surgery will be intense and recovery will be tough. He will continue to receive chemotherapy after the liver surgery for probably 6 months.
Please continue to send good vibes during this time and we will continue to keep everyone updated as things go along.
Thankfully Dan is an incredibly strong individual, a true viking through and through, with incredible friends and family that have his back!

We need your help and support. Our amazing talented friend Dano has been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. Unfortunately it has spread into some lymphnodes and his liver. Dano will be having surgery on October 8th removing the cancer mass in his colon. During the surgry they will also remove the affected lymhnodes and the 5 spots that have metastasized into his liver.
Dano will be in the hospital for a bit and then will need to follow up with 6 months of chemotherapy.
We want want to help our friend by taking the stress of worrying about the financial burden of medical expenses and the loss of income by taking an extended leave from work.
We want Dano to focus on healing and beating this cancer!
Please help Dano come out of this critical situation and so he can continue enjoying his life with his family.
