Help Danny Rouse’s Recovery

Donation protected
On the evening of February 3rd, 2022, Danny experienced a fall at home while awaiting a ‘routine’ spine surgery scheduled for the following week. Quickly after the fall, he developed new and severe symptoms and was brought to the Trauma ICU at Prisma Health in Columbia, where he was scheduled for surgery later that day. The Neurosurgery team performed a Discectomy and Spinal Fusion from C4 to T1.

The surgery was successful, but unfortunately, we learned that there was significant damage to the spinal cord. After spending one week in Trauma ICU, Danny was blessed to be accepted and transferred to The Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA, a top-ranked, highly sought-after facility for Spinal Cord Rehabilitation.

Since then, Danny has been continuously monitored and provided top-notch care. As of today (March 16th), Danny will undergo a second surgery that will contribute to Danny’s recovery process. With respect to privacy, we aren’t going to provide many details, but we ask for prayers and coverage of protection as he recovers from this procedure.

This will be a very long journey for both Danny and Vicki, as you can imagine. Given that damage to the spinal cord has interrupted the flow of information from the brain to the body, Danny will have a long road ahead to regain as much function and movement as possible. We’ve been given the okay to provide a few ways to assist as they continue this journey.

  • Prayers: We ask that you continue to pray for Danny’s recovery, stability, restored movement, and mental health and peace of both Danny & Vicki. We trust God's plan and know that all things are possible through him.
  • Encouragement: Please feel free to send appropriate, light-hearted tee-shirts (or cards) to Danny as we hope to brighten his spirits at this time.
  • Financial: In addition to the mental and emotional strain of the injury, they will encounter many new obstacles. Aside from medical bills, ongoing rehabilitation costs, work absences and leaves, they will also need to undergo home modifications to make the space ready for Danny’s arrival once discharged. We know that anything you’re able to contribute would give them great encouragement and allow them to feel the support of those around them.

Thank you so much for the continuous prayers and thoughtfulness; let’s rally behind these two!
