Update! (11/19/2024)

Danny will be heading to San Diego to start Chemotherapy on Friday 11/22/2024. Him and his mom will be there for close to a month while he goes through chemo.

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far! Danny, his mom, and his family are overwhelmed with the amount of love and support they have received in such a short amount of time!

Daniel "Danny" Perez is a 16 year old Junior at Holtville High School.

He was recently diagnosed with testicular cancer. Danny began experiencing abdominal pain in June of this year and was seen at Brawley Hospital where it was discovered he had a tumor affecting his testicle. He was referred to Childrens Hospital for follow up.

In July he had surgery to remove the tumor and testicle at Children's Hospital- San Diego. After the surgery it was determined that the tumor was cancerous and that he would need to come back for routine scans to monitor.

In September Danny began to experience pain, loss of energy, and appetite. He was immediately taken back to Childrens Hospital where he had scans and bloodwork done which revealed his cancer had returned and spread. It was discovered that he had developed a tumor in his abdomen and on the bottom of his right lung.

Upon making this discovery his doctors had decided that Danny needed to undergo 5 days of chemotherapy.

During a recent recheck prior to starting chemotherapy it was determined by his doctor that Danny would have to undergo 21 days of chemotherapy due to his cancer continuing to spread. The chemotherapy schedule that he will be following will be 5 days a week at Childrens Hospital- San Diego for 5-6 hours a day with a 2 day rest period in between, for 3 weeks.

His doctor has advised that he will not be able to travel back and forth to the Imperial Valley during this time due to the severity of the symptoms he is expected to experience.

Danny has been in good spirits and hopeful during this time. He has turned his faith to God and began working on getting baptized. He goes to catechism Wednesday's and Sunday's at Saint Josephs Church in Holtville.

The out of pocket cost for Danny and his mom (Lorena Lopez) relocating to San Diego for 3 weeks for Danny's upcoming chemotherapy treatment was unforeseen and will be expensive.

Any donations and/or prayers would be appreciated to help Danny and his family through this difficult time.
