The Heart of Portsmouth Needs Your Help
For over 50 years, Portsmouth Alignment at the corner of Elm Avenue and George Washington Highway has been more than just an auto shop. It’s been a place where neighbors in Portsmouth and beyond could find an honest mechanic, a fair price, and a helping hand. In the early morning hours of Monday, February 23rd, the unthinkable happened. A vehicle crashed through the building with such force that it looked like a "bomb went off." The impact was so severe that a portion of the building collapsed, and today, the only thing holding up the roof is one of the shop’s heavy-duty vehicle lifts.
While Danny Crawford, the owner, has insurance, it is far from enough to cover a total loss of this magnitude. Furthermore, the driver involved was underinsured, leaving Danny and his team in a desperate financial gap. In the months that it will take to rebuild, neither Danny nor his team will have the income necessary to support their households.
Danny has spent decades helping our community stay safe on the road. Now he needs our help. Danny is a man who hates to ask for help, but the community has already reached out asking how they can give back to the man who has given so much to Portsmouth.
