Hi All, Danny Carr here. I don't have much living out of my van. I keep trying to give it love and feel bad. New fuel may be to blame as well as a comfortable living situation that would have me more on top of maintenance.
Van repairs gonna cost a fortune. 280,000 mile 7.3 IDI motors are known for lasting lifetimes. That said, the motor was running really rough. Fuel pump issues, high injector pumps, and injectors are very costly. Pump $1200, injectors $250-300, lift pump $100, trans backing plate repair $1000. Bought backing plate was $105 shipped. Was fixing my brake problems when the starter at start-up motor locked up and the starter with its torque snapped the backing plate.
Banks Sidewinder Turbo needs a maintenance rebuild as well. They can ruin a motor if they come apart.
Dead in the water!!! Or if you know a great diesel guy rich and in the giving spirit to help.
