Help Dannie Get the Life-Saving Care She Deserves

Dear friends and compassionate hearts,

I’m reaching out to you on behalf of a truly remarkable person, Dannie, who is battling 2 Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Diseases. These conditions are very painful and it has become impossible for her to eat. She urgently needs one of 2 specialized feeding tubes to sustain her life. She has lost over 90 lb and suffers from weakness, dizzy spells and constant pain. She suffers from hot flashes that leave her chilled, in puddles of sweat and make it nearly impossible to sleep.

In March of 2024 Dannie traveled down to Vancouver and begged for life at both UBC and VGH. She was turned away at UBC. At VGH she found the doctors she thought would save her. They were disgusted to find out how she had been ignored and neglected. However they were only able to help her to a certain point then passed her on to a new specialist who has just done the same.

Dannie has seen many doctors and they just keep giving up and passing her on to someone else. The Specialists that were supposed to be helping her have done nothing but ignore her for months at a time. Even after ending up in the emergency room two days in a row her specialist is doing nothing. Her only option now is private care.

She needs to find help fast and is running out of time.

Dannie is not just a fighter; she’s a beacon of creativity and kindness. Due to her health issues she is having to close her business. It was a consignment store that supports local crafters and offered crafting classes to both adults and children, enriching our community with her talent and generosity. This is breaking her heart but she no longer has a choice.

We are fundraising to cover the cost of her private care, travel and medical costs and the feeding tube she desperately needs, as these aren’t fully covered by insurance. Your support would mean everything to her and to all of us who care about her.
