Please help Dannie. She is facing the battle of her life…for her life!

She has more than one form of Eosinophylia- multiple incurable diseases which have caused her to suffer daily from pain, malnutrition and starvation. Due to her medical issues, Dannie had been forced to close her store, Creative Collections. To give up her dream. In doing this Dannie not only lost her connection to her community but a huge part of herself as well. She fought long and hard to keep the store open. However life had a different idea. Dannie is a true fighter and it was hard for her to admit that she had become too weak and too sick to have kept it open any longer. This broke Dannie's Heart, Soul and Spirit. She deeply misses it all, especially the students and the many customers that became friends.

Dannie is suffering daily, from more than one Eosinophilic issue. (Eosinophils are white tissue cells that naturally occur in many areas of the body. The Esophagus is not one of those body parts. They can be either helpful or become a major hinderance to the natural functioning of the body.) All Allergy Tests and Parasite tests have been done. Conventional medications have been tried multiple times and failed. Nothing works and No Answers. The only test left to do is a set of Bone Marrow Biopsies. It could be hematological or genetic.

The first issue she was diagnosed with is Eosinophilic Esophagitis w/infiltration of the stomach and upper bowels, complicated by heavy gastritis, which then turned into Eosinophilic Gastritis.

Dannie was informed on May 6th that her specialist believes that she also suffers Eosinophilic Enteritis. This would explain her malnutrition issues, as this is a direct symptom of Eosinophilic Enteritis. Plus she still has a mystery Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disease that they still yet do not understand. Eosinophils have overtaken her Esophagus, stomach and upper bowels. Because of the Eosiniphilic Esophagitis she can barely get food through her Esophagus. Only small amounts. About 1/4 –1/3cups worth, at a time. A few times a week, if lucky.

Even worse, it is extremely painful for hours afterwards. Even with Hydromorphone and high doses of Gabapentin she suffers. At times she cannot eat for days & can only drink low acid smoothies. Her body shows signs of dehydration and starvation. Extremely malnourished, as the emergency doctor stated.

She looks emaciated-skeletal. Her pain causes flashes that leave her hot to the touch and covered in layers of sweat. Dannie explains the pain to be that of having burning lava throughout her abdomen all the time. When a flare up happens she says it feels like a furnace has been turned up, igniting the lava. Her body turns red and she is hot to the touch everywhere. This is then immediately followed by Chills that cover her in goose bumps. Dannie claims that sleeping is impossible some nights.

When she manages to get food passed the lumps caused by the Eosinophilic Esophagitis, the Eosinophilic Gastritis makes it hard for the food to break down in her stomach, then the Eosinophilic Enteritis stops the bowels from bringing in the nutrients from what little food she manages to eat. She is in need of a “PEG” stomach tube or if her body rejects that , a”J” tube that goes straight into her bowels. Temporary feeding tubes go through the nose or mouth and down through the Esophagus. The tubes cause scarring while also causing the pain to be even more excruciating. No surgeons here deal with Eosinophils. 2 different emergency doctors had explained it to her when Dannie was in the Emergency Department 2 days in a row only to be told that they cannot do anything for her. They need to speak with her specialist to know how to proceed because of the Eosinophils. He was not returning their calls and messages so they released her with no help.

They were beyond surprised at the shape her body was in and couldn't understand why she had been waiting so long for a PEG. Dannie then got a call from her specialist's office to inform her that he was not going to return any messages or calls and that he was “aware” of her situation.

He felt that she could wait the three and a half weeks to talk to him on the phone.

He had already forgotten that she existed for 7 months! They had forgotten about her appointment in January, & had an ill-informed student conduct her appointment. It was without her specialist/doctor present because as the student explained, he was too busy and they had forgotten about her appointment.

She knew nothing of her case, other than what was discussed, months prior.

No follow-up was done. No one had discussed her file since October. Because they had not looked at her file since that day they had no idea what tests had been done or that she had traveled to Vancouver and gone to the allergy center and had all of those tests done as well. The student didn't even know which medications they had tried or which procedures had already been done. The student admitted that they had forgotten about Dannie and not looked at her file since they met in October.

She then apologized and promised to research Dannie’s file & get her an appointment with the doctor. 

A promise was made to contact Dannie the following week and that an appointment would be set up with the specialist himself. No one ever called back.

 Instead 2 emails were sent. One with a new requisition form for another blood test. All good. To be expected. However, the second email was maddening! There is nothing in it but a link to the self-help section for chronic pain at the women's center. So, a link to help herself-by herself instead of them helping her, or giving her an appointment, as promised. She was to read it on her own. Read about how to help herself. To find a way, by herself, to cope with the pain. No help forthcoming.

Again, no appointment!

Dannie's health has declined very rapidly. Her pains have increased as her life has become a nightmare.

At times Dannie had even left messages crying and begging ready to give up on living. This is NOT the Dannie we ALL know. She claims to not even know herself anymore. Her husband has noticed that she does things differently and talks differently.

Dannie had left messages at both of his offices with no one returning her calls for over 4 months. When they did after the 4 months the reception promised to talk to the doctor about setting up an appointment and call Dannie back but there were no return calls.

After the visits to emergency, she finally talked to him. Over 3 weeks after being in the emergency.

He repeatedly accused her of lying about her increased pain and weight loss until Dannie offered to send him dated pictures.

On purpose, she had her weight taken at her last in-person doctor's appointment. On May 28th, 2025. It was documented that Dannie was down to 115 lbs. She had lost 108lbs, (more before they started weighing her). She’s lost more weight since. She has become frail!

Her doctor admitted & agreed that the Canadian Healthcare System had let her down & would not be able to aide her in time. He released her paperwork so that she could find private health care.

BC legislatures have changed, forcing private health care clinics in BC to send surgeries outside of the province. She would have to travel to Montreal or Ontario to receive her PEG Stomache Tube. This procedure is too expensive here in Canada and Dannie has no choice but to seek help in Mexico. She has already found a prominent Hospital that can help her. They are even linked up with the Mayo Clinic! They've also won awards for their International Medical Services! Please Help Dannie get the care she so desperately needs.

ALL of the funds received will be used for Dannie's Travel Costs, Living Costs, Medical Appointments, and... Hopefully enough to pay for her PEG Stomach Tube Surgery and the feeding machine with medical supplies and specialized enteral solution( specialized PEG Food that can be fed into her by the machine). She will also need help with the cost of accommodations for pre-op and post-op procedures, such as the Endoscopy and Colonoscopy that are required before surgery can be done. Each one of these is a separate cost that is not included in the cost of the actual Peg procedure.
