Turns out, brain surgery wasn't the end of my medical nightmares. Today, July 12 is the one year anniversary of my gamma knife radiation that was supposed to be a relatively mild procedure with a recovery time of about 2-7 days. The neurosurgeon and his team weren't able to retrieve the entire tumor resting somewhere in-between my pituitary gland, optic chiasm, and my brain during my brain surgery in January of '24. It was too risky and they did the best they could without a serious rise in the potential for me to bleed out and die. After the surgery, I recovered for about 3 weeks until I wasn't in extreme constant pain and at that point, felt pretty good about by after surgery symptoms. The doctors wanted to monitor me and do another MRI after three months to see the difference. The MRI showed that there was still a portion of the tumor that was left over and gamma knife radiation was recommended as the next treatment of choice.
