Help Danielle with Child’s Cancer Expenses
Donation protected
Hello everyone!!
My name is Alicia, I am making this GoFundMe to hopefully get some help for my friend Danielle who has 2 terminally ill children.
Danielle’s son Evan was diagnosed with cancer a year and a half ago. Danielle received news in early August that Evan’s cancer is back and worse.
Now let me give you a little more background.
Evan’s cancer journey started in June 2020. It was a normal day just like any other when Danielle had noticed that Evan’s stomach was larger than normal and abnormally hard. She had taken him to the ER in town and they had found a mass. Once the mass was found they had stated that he needed to be transferred to Children’s in Omaha immediately. Children’s had done additional scans and did emergency surgery to remove the mass, the mass that was removed was 8lbs. The mass was attached to his bladder and engulfed his appendix. After a week Evan was released. They had sent the mass in and found out that it is in fact a tumor that was cancerous. He was diagnosed with Myxoid Pleomorphic Liposarcoma. Now not only is this one of the rarest cancers but what makes it even more rare is that it was found in his stomach. Normally this type of cancer is found in a leg or arm and they have to amputate to remove it. Another reason this is so rare is because of Evan’s age. At the time he was 16 now 17 normally this type of cancer is found in people in their 60’s and 70’s.
Now what did this mean for the family. This meant another surgery to have a port put in and multiple trips back and forth from Fremont and Omaha because Danielle has 2 other children at home. At the End of July 2020 Evan started his first round of Chemo. After a few months of Chemo they had done some scans and everything was great Evan was in Remission!!!
May 2021 comes around more scans and they find another small mass. They remove the mass and it again comes back as cancer but they were for certain that he wasn’t going to need Chemo again and that things were okay.
Evan had scans done on 8/5/2021 and they found the cancer has gotten more aggressive. This time it was found in his abdomen, chest and bone. Evan had made the choice to start chemo and hit it with everything they got. He is determined to beat this!
On 8/26/2021 Evan went in for his second round of Chemo treatments and they did a full body P.E.T scan…they found another lump which came back as cancerous on his shoulder and his knee…it’s spreading…and fast.
On 8/31/2021 Evan went in for his 6th cancer related surgery to remove the lump on his shoulder. This brings me to now. Evan continues to have chemo treatments for 2 weeks and then has two weeks off and then on again all requiring trips to be made to Omaha.
Now while she has this news about Evan, she is also dealing with her youngest child Tyler who is battling stage 3 kidney disease. Tyler recently had a nephrology appointment and he had went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 but could at any point be back at Stage 4 and too has appointment which require trips to Omaha.
Danielle now has 2 terminally ill children, has to make multiple trips back and forth from Fremont to Omaha to get Tyler and Evan to their necessary appointments. Gas isn’t cheap. Food isn’t cheap. There are times that they have to be at the hospital waiting for scans and other tests all day and the only option is fast food. Due to both children having multiple appointments and having to be in Omaha multiple times a month Danielle has not been able to work. Being able to pay her house payment, regular bills, buy groceries, repair her vehicle or even just get gas for her to get to those appointments has become harder and harder to do on her own.
On top of all of this, their secondary vehicle that her boyfriend uses to get the 2 other boys around when Danielle and Evan are in Omaha for Chemo started overheating and there is just no funds to try and get a new one or get it fixed.
Danielle is an amazing mother and would do anything for her children. She has been so brave and strong through all of this. She continues to do anything and everything for her 3 boys even if that means putting her physical and mental health aside. She could definitely use your guys’ support and help.
Now I know this past year has been a struggle for a lot of people so it is completely understandable if you’re not able to give much. All we ask is for something, something to help this mother be allowed to just be a mother and let these children just be children and not have to worry.
All Donation will be used for:
*Any Maintenance towards their vehicles
*Gas for the multiple trips per month
*medical expenses
*any travel/overnight stays
*food while at the hospital
*help towards bills for the home
*any other miscellaneous things needed for the boys and the family
Thank you for reading! Thank you for anything you are able to do to help.
