Hi friends and family I’m reaching out for help because things have taken a big change. I know a lot of you have read this or heard my story in the last month or so but I wanted to update everybody because there’s been a lot of change. I have now just been diagnosed with a new blood disorder/disease called Porphyria AIP. My body does not produce enough heme in the blood and causes is it to attack itself. This illness causes severe pain, mostly in the abdomen, back, chest and legs. It also causes permanent nerve damage. The longer that you have it, and it goes untreated the more nerve damage your body will have. At this point, they don’t know how long I’ve had it because it’s so rare that I had not been tested for it in the past and a lot of the medication that I was on for my other illnesses make this disease worse. I am currently in a pretty bad attack and have been in the hospital for a week straight. As you all know, my husband took time off of work to help take care of me, and since the beginning of September, he has yet to receive any payment from disability paid family leave, and I have only received two payments thus far. We are severely struggling to stay afloat, keep our house, and eat. I had just applied for help from the state for food and now that the government is shut down, we won’t be receiving those benefits for the month of November and we’re not quite sure what we’re gonna do. I should be being discharged from the hospital today or tomorrow and so the doctors sent over to the pharmacy a few new things I need and they’re not covered just for two of them. The cost will be over $100 so we have to decide whether or not we put that towards our water bill or do we pay for my medication. I know things are hard for everybody at the moment, but even one dollar helps if you can spare.. I don’t like asking for help, but we are desperate and my health depends on it. My husband will be returning to work in the middle of November, I plan on going work in January, that is when my doctors have me out until. We are good people who try our hardest and we still are. Even from my hospital bed, I’m trying to figure out ways that I could potentially earn money or do some sort of work online. Please help if you can, and of course, as always, all prayers are greatly appreciated and needed.
