Temple of Earth Apothecary's Opening Fund
Temple of Earth Apothecary is fundraising to open a storefront space on Lisjan Ohlone land in the East Bay community I grew up in! We will be operating as a collectively owned and horizontally led co-op. We need a strong foundation of support to establish our physical space. Temple of Earth Apothecary (TEA) is a horizontally led cooperative Afro-Indigenous herb shop, medicine garden and community healing space, selling locally grown bulk herbs, house-made herbal preparations and ritual goods. Individual healing consults, readings and bodywork are available at Temple of Earth, as well as workshops and apprenticeship in ancestral herbalism and our Indigenous healing praxis and practices. Temple of Earth celebrates and centers Black/Native/POC land and plant stewardship, teachers, practitioners and medicine folk, specifically concentrating Afro-diasporic healing and our medicine ways.
We project that $16,300 will facilitate the build-out of the space and cover all opening expenses, including one month's payroll. $75,000 of support will fund 6 months of operating expenses. $166,300 will take care of our first year of operating expenses, including overhead and product.
