Hi there, I'm Danielle and I have written a collection of humorous children's poem's entitled 'Treasure Box Tales'.
It all started one night when my son, Noah couldn't get to sleep after he had his bedtime story and the lights were out. He was unsettled and I was so tired I told him that he needed to try and sleep or the bedtime dinosaur would come bite his toes. We both laughed and so I started to improvise a story, "Stomp! Stomp! Roar Roar! What's that noise?" I asked him. He said "Bedtime Dinosaur" and so each night we made up more together and before I knew it, he was asking for this story every night at bedtime. I decided to write it down and really enjoyed having my son love something I had written so much that I wanted to do more and so I did and I thought to myself, if my own son loves these so much then maybe other children would enjoy them too and so I created 'Treasure Box Tales'.
Several months later I have completed my manuscript and as a first time writer I had no idea the costs involved in actually having a book illustrated. So I began researching and finding out more and more about the process.
This is the next step for me in bringing, 'Treasure Box Tales' to life and I want to be able to do it with you and share my journey which in turn will help me to commission an illustrator.
Everyone who participates in my project will receive a signed advanced copy of the book and as the project develops and gets further a long there will be VIP offers for supporters from limited edition prints, merchandise and first to hear any big news that comes in.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and here is a taster of two of my poems from the book.
THE BEDTIME DINOSAUR
Written by Danielle Moubarak
STOMP! STOMP!
RRROAR! ROAR!
What’s that noise?
It’s the sound of the bedtime dinosaur
He’s come to see if you’re asleep
And if your not
He’ll bite your feet
He’ll nibble your toes and he’ll munch on your knees
And he’ll lick you all up and say
“You look good enough to eat”
So get in to bed
And turn off the telly
Or else you’ll become…
Dinosaur jelly!
CREEPY LITTLE SPIDER
Written by Danielle Moubarak
Creepy Little Spider
Wouldn't eat the other flies
He would wait for Mrs Baker
To bake her veggie pies
He loved all creatures great and small
but eating fruits and vegetables was his most favourite thing of all.
Strawberries, carrots, potatoes, and pears
were all kept in a cupboard
underneath the kitchen stairs.
Creepy Little Spider
Wasn't creepy at all
In fact he was so popular
he hosted the annual Veggie Lovers Ball
Bugs from all over the world
Would come to eat and chatter
And feast on the delicious
Fruit and veggie platters!
"Let's all raise a glass
and thank Creepy Little Spider, for another great year"
As they drank their apple cider and let out a roaring cheer.
