This past Tuesday, my sister-in-law Danielle went in for what was supposed to be a routine appointment at 30 weeks pregnant. Instead, her doctor found her blood pressure was dangerously high—so high they said they were surprised she hadn’t already had a seizure. She was diagnosed with severe preeclampsia and rushed to Yale New Haven Hospital, where she’ll remain under constant care until the baby is delivered. Unfortunately due to the risks of preeclampsia, Baby Lucia will have to be delivered at 34 weeks (if not sooner).
Danielle has been unbelievably strong through all of this, and my brother-in-law Brandon has been by her side every step of the way. However, between Danielle’s extended hospital stay, the NICU care their baby will need after birth, lost wages from weeks out of work, and the daily cost of traveling back and forth to the hospital, things are quickly piling up. On top of that, they still have regular bills and household expenses waiting for them at home.
This is Brandon and Danielle’s first child, and while this isn’t how anyone pictured these last weeks of pregnancy, their family and friends want to do whatever we can to ease the stress and let them focus on what matters most: Danielle’s health and Baby Lucia’s safe arrival.
Any donation—big or small—will go a long way in helping them cover medical bills, travel, food, and household expenses during this time. If you aren’t able to donate, simply sharing this page means the world.
Thank you for supporting Brandon, Danielle, and Baby Lucia during this incredibly difficult time.
