Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out for your support as I continue to navigate this challenging medical journey. I was diagnosed with hepatic adenomas in 2019, which are rare, benign liver tumors that carry the risk of serious complications, including rupture, sepsis, and malignant transformation. After extensive genetic and pathology testing, it was confirmed that my disease was directly caused by prolonged use of oral contraceptives. This is a horrible side effect of birth control that is never discussed or mentioned. These adenomas are fueled by estrogen, which is increased with the use of birth control, fertility treatments, and pregnancy.

Currently, I have a 9cm adenoma tumor encroaching my gallbladder that has not reduced in size after 2 years of monitoring following my pregnancy. After consulting with specialists at MD Anderson, I’ve learned that histotripsy, a cutting-edge, non-invasive treatment, offers the best chance for me to finally be cured of this liver disease and recover safely. I have already undergone several extremely risky surgeries, including a liver resection and an embolization. These are no longer options for me and have been exhausted due to the risk of liver damage and failure. I also underwent a c section at 34 weeks pregnant due to these adenomas, as they grew out of control and put my and my daughter’s life at risk, this lead to a 17 day NICU stay for her. I have also attempted the use of semiglutide, which is an experimental treatment for adenomas, and insurance stopped covering this medication after 8 weeks of use. Histotripsy is my only option moving forward.

Unlike traditional surgery, histotripsy uses focused ultrasound waves to break down tumors without incisions. These tumors essentially implode on themselves, and they resolve. This reduces recovery time and minimizes risks. However, this advanced procedure is not widely covered by insurance, leaving our family with a significant financial burden. Insurance claims that this treatment is experimental and unproven, despite 20 years of clinical trials with a 95% success rate.

The cost of the treatment, along with medical expenses, travel, and post-procedure care, is overwhelming. Any contribution, no matter how small, will bring me one step closer to receiving the care I need. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign would mean the world to me.
