Help Daniela Return Home to Colombia with Dignity

Hi, we are fundraising on behalf of our friends Manuel and his wife, Daniela Gandara, who is currently being held in ICE custody in Alvarado, Texas.

Daniela came to the United States from Cartagena, Colombia with hope in her heart and the dream of building a better life—not just for herself, but to support her loved ones back home. She has lived in the U.S. for the past 3.5 years, has no criminal record, and has filed taxes each year—working hard and contributing to her community while following the rules expected of her.

On June 16th, during a routine ICE check-in appointment in Dallas, TX, Daniela was unexpectedly detained and placed in removal proceedings. She is now being held for deportation, with her case currently in the hands of immigration authorities.

Rather than remain incarcerated for 12 to 24 months while awaiting the outcome of her case, Daniela has made the incredibly difficult choice to pursue voluntary departure, so she can return to Colombia with dignity and peace of mind.

We are asking for your support to raise $4,000 to cover the legal fees, documentation, and proceedings required for her voluntary departure. Every dollar will go toward:

Legal representation and immigration processing

Government filing and court fees

Travel and logistical arrangements for her return

Daniela is not a criminal. She is a kind-hearted, law-abiding woman who simply wanted to build a better life. Her strength and courage in choosing to leave on her own terms show just how much she values her freedom and her family’s peace of mind.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Manuel, and their dog Dohko, who are both heartbroken but supportive of her decision.

Ayuda a Daniela a regresar a Colombia con dignidad

Hola, estamos recaudando fondos en nombre de mi amigo Manuel y su esposa, Daniela Gandara, quien actualmente se encuentra detenida por ICE en Alvarado, Texas.

Daniela llegó a los Estados Unidos desde Cartagena, Colombia, con esperanza en su corazón y el sueño de construir una vida mejor, no solo para ella, sino también para apoyar a su familia en su país. Ha vivido en EE. UU. por los últimos 3 años y medio, sin antecedentes penales, declarando impuestos cada año y cumpliendo con sus responsabilidades como cualquier buena ciudadana.

El pasado 16 de junio, durante una cita rutinaria con inmigración en Dallas, TX, Daniela fue detenida y puesta en proceso de deportación (removal proceedings). Ahora se encuentra retenida con fines de deportación, mientras su caso avanza ante las autoridades migratorias.

En lugar de permanecer encarcelada durante 12 a 24 meses esperando una decisión, Daniela ha tomado la difícil decisión de solicitar una salida voluntaria, para regresar a Colombia con dignidad y comenzar una nueva etapa en libertad.
