Help Daniela & Her Son - Mililani Mauka House Fire
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Cheyne and I'm trying to raise funds for Daniela and her young son who were affected in a house fire. She is my next door neighbor in Mililani Mauka and they definitely could use our help from our community.
On Friday, September 24th tragedy struck in the form of a house fire that destroyed most of what they owned. Everything else inside of the house that did not burn cannot be saved due to the permanent, toxic fumes that were left behind.
Not only did the fire take all of their possessions inside of the house, but it also completely melted the engine-bay of 2 of her vehicles.
Neither of them were home at the time and no one was injured.
The American Red Cross stopped by to gave them a $500 pre-paid credit card for food and clothing along with giving them training on how to clean up their house. The Red Cross agents gave them a list of hotels that they recommend staying at but they did not guarantee that they will give any type of discount. Upon calling the hotels that the Red Cross gave them, Daniela was told that due to it being a last minute booking, the rates were $500 per night.
They could not afford $500 a night, especially knowing that there is no estimated date of the restoration of their house so they ended up staying at a friend's house. Their current situation is temporary of course, and Daniela is actively searching for a place to rent.
If you or anyone knows of someone who is renting out their house or townhouse, please contact me ASAP.
Daniela is a single-mother trying her best to raise her young son by herself.
I've been next-door neighbors with these two for almost two years now. I've never had a single complaint about them. They are very cool and respectful people.
For Christmas last year, they even bought my toddler a toy kitchen set complete with all of the toy dishes. They are genuinely good people and I truly feel they deserve the community's help.
They could also use clothing or shoes since all of their clothes was either burned or unable to be used due to the toxic smoke smell.
She is a Size 0-2 with Shoe Size 9.
Her son is Size 14-16 with Shoe Size 11.
I understand that people are struggling, especially with all that is going on in the world, but even if you can't donate anything, please leave a positive comment which their family will eventually see. Everything helps.
Lastly, I would like to thank the Honolulu Fire Department for their speedy actions which prevented further spread of the fire onto my house and our other surrounding neighbors.
