Who we are
Our mission at Dancing Harvest Farm is to grow food that nourishes people, respects our environment, and contributes to a more compassionate and equitable food system. We have been growing our business since 2021 and are lucky to call South Portland, Maine our community. We want to share the organic, nutritious and delicious food we grow with as many people as we can. So far, we have grown vegetables, flowers, and herbs for our Community Supported Agriculture shares, Maine Senior Farm Shares, local restaurants and nearby farmstands. We were named South Portland’s Sustainable Business of the Year in 2025 and see that recognition as something to continue to grow into.

Why we’re raising funds
This year, we have a new opportunity to add our very own farmstand and get our produce into many more homes! The farmstand model allows us to grow our business in new ways: we can offer more variety and flexibility (of produce, of volume, of price, of time) to our neighbors and customers.

We have spent the winter partnering with contractors and the City of South Portland, and are happy to report we have a construction plan and have received the necessary permits to make our Farmstand a reality. Now, we just need to build it! We are raising $20,000 for:

Site Prep Materials ($3,000)
Cement pad and door ($6,200)
Cooler upgrade and weatherproofing ($7,000)
Internet and Point of Sale support ($1,600)
Additional cooling and vegetable storage ($2,200)

Thank you so much for reading about our story, for sharing this fundraiser, and donating any amount. Thank you!!

More about Daniela and Dancing Harvest Farm
Daniela began Dancing Harvest Farm in 2021 after a few years working in farming and gardening. She has practiced and studied agriculture in varying contexts, first falling in love with the field work at the Dickinson College Farm in Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania while pursuing her BA in environmental studies. Before her college studies led her to grow vegetables, Daniela was a professional ballet dancer with the New York City Ballet. She was not expecting her former career to resonate with her current one, but to her the connections farming sparks between people and food feel similar to the way a dance performance seeks to impact its audience. She reveres the craft and labor needed for both, and hopes to continue to farm for many years to come.
