Hi, my name is Jeff and I'm helping raise funds for my good friend Daniel.
Daniel has had FSH muscular dystrophy for many years and has always been high
functioning with his disability, living on his own with his two cats, but the
past months have been rough.
His condition has declined lately because, although he has disability insurance, it doesn't cover critical needs he can't afford such as:
- dental service to prevent pneumonia-triggering tooth infections
- lift components to move him between his bed and wheelchair
- attachments to make oxygen and other breathing machines easier to use
- consistent caregiving services to keep him safe, healthy and comfortable
He's been in the hospital with two incidents of respiratory failure, both of which required emergency resuscitation. This comes after weeks of battling pneumonia and years of fighting his muscular dystrophy.
Daniel has spent some time in assisted living facilities selected by his insurance for the disabled, but the staff there were unable to safely provide service and equipment for his critical needs and continued care, resulting in him being sent back to the hospital.
He is returning home this week from the hospital to his apartment in Austin, Texas where has enjoyed a life with the two cats he dearly loves. Despite dealing with a mountain of pain and difficulty, Daniel remains optimistic, hopeful, and grateful that there are still so many wonderful things about life to experience, from a good meal to seeing an old friend.
His needs are great, but we are confident they are attainable with your help so we're asking you to open up your heart and donate to a worthy cause. Your compassion and prayers are appreciated.
