Daniel's Internship with Sports Academy, George

My name is Daniel Irwin; I'm 18 and currently studying for my A-levels. I have been given the opportunity to participate in the internship programme with Sports Academy George in South Africa and will be moving to George in July for the year.

I have a strong connection with Africa, having spent almost every summer with my family visiting my grandparents in Zimbabwe. I feel very much at home there, and it's been my desire to return as an adult to serve in any way I can.

Sports Academy was established in 2019 with a mission 'to use sport to coach, disciple and mentor young people and raise up a new generation of Christian leaders that will advance the Kingdom of God in the underprivileged communities of George, South Africa'.

I will be involved in coaching and playing sports, organising and facilitating tournaments and youth clubs, speaking in assemblies and investing in the lives of SAG students through their discipleship programme.

Sports Academy is a registered non-profit organisation, and as an intern, I am responsible for raising my own funds for the year. I have been advised that I will need £500 per month to cover my living costs while I am there. If you would like to partner with me on this journey, I would appreciate your support.
