Imagine waking up every day afraid; afraid of violence, of hunger, of not even having clean water or electricity. For my friend Daniel, growing up in Haiti meant living with constant fear and uncertainty. At just 24, he made the difficult choice to flee his home country in search of safety and the chance to build a better life here in the United States. Since arriving, Daniel has worked tirelessly to build a stable and meaningful life. He has pursued every step through the legal process, doing everything he can to follow the rules and make his future here secure. But because of sudden policy changes, his path forward was derailed, and now he faces removal proceedings that could send him back to danger.

Daniel deserves the chance to live without fear. He deserves the basic human rights of safety, shelter, food, and clean water, things many of us take for granted. That’s why this fundraiser was created: to help cover the overwhelming legal costs of his immigration process.
