Help Daniel Recover his Truck and Tools

Donation protected

Last week, Daniel and I visited Montreal to catsit for my college friend and to enjoy a relaxing vacation before the new school year. We visited my parents first and capped the trip with an overnight with friends in Vermont. It was glorious.

When we returned to Somerville, already bummed that vacation was over, we saw an empty spot in the driveway and were completely bewildered. After talking to Daniel's upstairs neighbors who said they had last seen the car on Saturday night, we realized someone had entered the driveway and stolen the vehicle.

Camera Footage from the lovely hospital security guard at the Somerville Hospital shows a man brazenly approaching the truck at minute 1:33 and peeling out of the driveway at minute 6:14:

How someone can steal a truck out of someone's driveway with dog beds in it is beyond either of us. We lost a bit of innocence that day and Somerville lost a few points even though logically I know this could happen anywhere.

We filed a police report, but the chances of the vehicle being located in working condition are slim based on statistics and what the cops told us.

Unfortunately, the dog beds were not the only casualty in addition to the truck and the heartache of losing Daniel's main mode of transportation. He had stored at least $1500 of tools in the back with a blanket over the top. Daniel had just switched to Geico a week or two earlier for a cheaper rate and discovered that his new insurance does not cover theft. He does not have renter's insurance.

* Daniel is a craftsman who specializes in working on older homes as well as custom projects including but not limited to: wooden benches, fire pit covers, closets, tables. He's open to ideas. General handyman services for the home and creative carpentry services are his jam. He redid my now beautiful kitchen and gave my landlord a good deal.

We are asking for help since without the truck and the tools, earning the money to buy them back will be a real challenge; we're in a catch-22 situation.

If you have a project for which you need help, Daniel would love to consider your donation a down payment on work that he will help you to complete, just please donate $1 so you can comment with your contact info below to discuss the details of your project first to determine if he's the right person for your needs and he'll put you into his schedule. GoFundMe won't let us include contact info. Or contact Susannah Buzard via Facebook (Daniel doesn't use social media).

If you're just feeling generous and want to throw in 10 or 20 bucks or even 5 bucks, that's great too.

We started with a tool wishlist on Amazon, but realized that we needed to prioritize the truck in order to earn money to buy more tools.

Thank you!
