Daniel is more than just a friend—he is like a brother to me. We grew up together, and he has stood by my side through so many of life’s challenges. Dan has such a kind heart and he is always doing his best to help others in need. He has spent most of his career as an Emergency Medical Technician(EMT); as well as, a Search and Rescue Technician. He now serves in a critical role where he trains, instructs, and certify new EMTs coming up in the medical field. Helping others is in his DNA. Now, he is facing one of the hardest seasons of his life, and I want to do everything I can to help him get through it.

Daniel’s medical journey has been incredibly difficult. After a misdiagnosis and a lack of medical urgency from his doctors, he developed acute kidney failure and kidney stones that required laser removal. The procedures left him with scar tissue in his urinary tract, causing ongoing issues with normal urinary function and putting his kidneys at further risk. His doctors have determined that he needs another surgery to remove or stretch the scar tissue. If this isn’t done and his healing process isn’t closely monitored, the scar tissue could close his urinary tract completely, leading to kidney failure and potentially life-threatening complications.

The cost of these procedures and the necessary follow-up care is extremely high, and Daniel has already paid thousands of dollars out of pocket. The financial burden is overwhelming, especially as he is recently married and trying to support his new family while going through treatment and being out of work during the recovery process.
