Help Daniel Heal: A Family's Journey to Recovery

Donation protected
I am creating this in honor of my boyfriend’s brother Daniel.

On Monday June 23 around 4:00pm Daniel had a very serious accident while working. He was using a demolition saw to help cut up a wagon and play house. While using the saw to cut the wagon, the saw kicked back and ended up cutting him all the way diagonally crossed his chest and torso and down to this groin area. Thankfully he was able to calm himself down and call for help. He remained calm and applied pressure to his wounds. He managed to call his mom (Angela) and girlfriend (Lana) and try to explain what had happened and that it was not good. He told us that all he thought was “that it’s either a lot of blood and he’ll be okay or he’s going to bleed out and die”. 911 was called and as they waited both of them tried packing the wounds and applying pressure. The paramedics decided they wanted to life flight him to Strong but were unable to get a helicopter so their only option was to transport him by ambulance. They stabilized him at the scene and started their way to the hospital. Calls were made and family started gathering at the hospital. Most of his immediate family had made it to the hospital before him which only scared us all even more. When he got there they sent him for imaging to make sure no major damage was done internally. Those images came back and everything looked good! They came back and let us know he would be going in for surgery to close him up and that it is a miracle that he’s alive and that he wasn’t bleeding more. Shortly after they took him back to the OR for surgery. They told us it would a couple of hours and that we could wait in the main lobby. Anxiously, we all awaited the doctor’s phone call. About two and a half hours in the doctor called and reminded us how lucky we all were. He explained that had the saw gone down a millimeter further into his leg he would have hit his femoral artery and bled out in seconds. He continued to tell us that they had repaired muscle tissue and then closed him up. He has a more than a couple hundred stitches holding him together. They are concerned that he may have nerve damage but it’s hard to tell at this point. Daniel has an extremely long road to recovery. He will be out of work for an extended time and will have many appointments in his future. There is mention of possible plastic surgery to repair the scaring. It is safe to say that life is going to look different for a very long time for all of us.

With all of that being said we will need to adapt in ways that will be in Daniel’s best interest. We will be purchasing multiple items to help make his move home from the hospital as smooth as possible. We understand that not everyone can donate and that is more than okay. Any little bit will help us be able to provide all of the equipment Daniel will need during his recovery. If you are unable to donate, sharing this does just as much. This whole experience has been eye opening and truly shown us how important it is so stay faithful and how important family is. We have spent our days taking turns visiting with him and trying to keep the vibes positive! We will continue to update this as things happen so we aren’t going crazy trying to text or call everyone.

We can’t thank everyone enough for the outpouring love and support during this unexpected and very scary time.

UPDATE: June 27
Good morning everyone!! We want to start off by thanking every single one of you who have contacted us, shown up to see him or even just come to be there with us, prayed for him, shared the GoFundMe, donated, etc. The love and support we have been shown over the last few days is truly breathtaking! With that being said…

Daniel is set to go home today!! We are looking to start a food chain so all the family needs to worry about is Daniel and helping him!

We will continue to keep everyone updated as things change! Thank you again for all of your love and support!
