My name is Daniel, and I am asking for help as I pursue gender-affirming top surgery. I have a consultation scheduled for November, and if all goes as planned, my surgery will take place between December and January. I have been medically transitioning since 2022 and this surgery is something that I have been researching, working toward, and hoping for for nearly a decade. Living paycheck to paycheck, I simply cannot afford the out-of-pocket medical cost on my own, which I expect to be between $3,300 and $4,500. I will update this page throughout the consultation in case there are any extra hidden fees. In the case of any excess donation, it would go to a BIPOC transgender person's GoFundMe or other crowd fundraiser.
I have tried to carry this on my own for as long as I can, but I have reached a point where I know I cannot go any longer without this surgery.
I want to be honest about what I am asking for: these funds will only go toward the medical bills for my surgery. I do not want to ask for more than I absolutely need. Even so, I will need to take a couple of months off work after surgery, and I know I will not be able to recover financially from these medical costs without support. It has been scary to reach out publicly like this, but I am inspired by how people show up for one another. Seeing others receive gender-affirming care reminds me that I am not alone. Living in Florida is becoming increasingly difficult for transgender people and this would significantly help my physical comfort as well as my safety. If you are able to give, share, or offer encouragement, it would mean more to me than I can put into words. Thank you for helping me move closer to something that would truly change my life.
