Danica Tofflemire’s world changed forever
on March 28, 2016

Emergency crews were called to the scene of the head-on collision on Highway 17. Her father, Troy was pronounced dead on scene. Danica, only 19 years old at the time was rushed to hospital in critical condition by the trauma medics team. Her mother Cheryl and her sister Miranda, have been by her bedside ever since. Danica remains in hospital although her multiple fractures are healed she has a long road to recovery from a traumatic brain injury.

As part of her rehabilitation, she is now able to do intensive physio with the assistance of a stand-up frame. She is able to move her right leg, her right arm and fingers on both hands and is able to hold her head up for a while. She no longer has a trach. She is able to consistently communicate with her family through her thumbs up and down. She can use her tablet to control her TV, have conversations and show people pictures of her puppy. She is able to follow along when her sister reads book to her. She can smile and laugh, gives kisses on the cheek to her mom and sister and vocalizes sounds.

Prior to the accident, the Tofflemire family were consummated members of their community. The Tofflemire sisters will forever cherish the passion for
music their dad has passed on to them.

How the funds raised will help the Tofflemire Family?

Our main goal for this ride is to raise enough funds to buy a modified wheelchair van for the family to transport Danica when she will be able to leave the hospital.
