Two app development teams from Code Girls United won the Congressional App Challenge in both Montana districts. One team specifically from Great Falls, "Code Girls".
A team of East Middle School 8th grade girls, Lily Kirkaldie, Charlie Kotthoff, and Danica Sabo.
The Great Falls team won with their app ‘Cursive Create’.
The app helps teach cursive writing, which the team said is important since cursive is no longer taught in schools.
Her team will travel to Washington D.C. for the National Science Fair’s ‘House of Code’, where they will showcase their apps in the U.S. Capitol.
Danica and her other team members are fundraising to cover the cost of the travel, hotel, and transportation for her and her team along with her two team teachers. This part will be done via the team's non-profit.
However, her other expenses of her trip will all come out of pocket. That consists of food, activity fees while in DC, and travel for one parent if we can raise enough for one of us, "Mom/Dad", to go with her on her once-in-a-lifetime trip. Any amount helps, let's help get Danica to DC!
