Help Danica fight Stage 4 Breast Cancer Metastatic to Spine

We are fundraising for our best friend, Danica Weaver, who has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 ER+, PR+, HER2- breast cancer metastatic to her spine. At just 35 years old, Danica is facing the unimaginable and is now in the fight for her life.

Danica started experiencing intense rib pain in December of 2023. After a visit to the doctor, she was told she had a bruised rib and it would heal on its own. As time went on, the pain worsened and started migrating between her rib, back, lower back, and pelvis. She visited different types of doctors for various opinions and treatments and even started physical therapy. Cancer was never a thought for anyone involved. One day in August of 2024, she went to the ER for excruciating pain in her back and demanded an X-ray, which showed a compression fracture in her T12 vertebrae and prompted the doctors to run further testing. Over the next 3 weeks, Danica underwent an intense amount of tests (mammogram, bone marrow biopsy, breast biopsy, ultrasound, 6 MRIs, X-rays, 2 CAT scans, etc.) between 2 hospitals - Los Alamitos and Hoag - and received her diagnosis.

Danica has a tough road ahead. Her treatment plan includes reconstructive spinal surgery, followed by aggressive hormone therapy and radiation. We are determined to help her fight this battle.

Her world revolves around her family: her loving husband Terry, and their beautiful 1-year-old daughter Mary. Those who know Danica know that she is an amazing and beautiful human being. She is an incredible mother, wife, daughter, and friend. She is extremely driven and has a “never give up” spirit. She is a fighter.

Although the Weavers have not asked for help, we believe that coming together as a community is the least we can do to support them in this time of need. We are reaching out to friends, family, and the broader community to rally together in support of Danica and her family as they prepare for this extended battle.
