Help Danae & Tyse Rebuild After a Terrifying Highway Attack

On Monday, what should have been a fun dirtbiking trip to Michigan turned into a nightmare for Danae and her son, Tyse. While towing their dirt bike trailer north on I-39, they were struck from behind at an excessively high rate of speed by an SUV. The impact was intentional.

The crash sent their truck and trailer fishtailing across the highway before flipping onto their side and skidding into the ditch. They narrowly missed a large exit sign. Miraculously, both Danae and Tyse were able to crawl out alive — but the ordeal didn’t end there.

The driver, who was in the middle of a severe mental health episode, approached them wielding a baseball bat. Police later discovered he was also carrying a large knife and a double-edged medieval sword. Officers drew their guns just feet away from Danae and Tyse to stop him. The man admitted he believed the “devil” kidnapped his fiance and was shapeshifting into drivers’ bodies, so he had been chasing down vehicles to ram them off the interstate and go after them with a baseball bat.

Physically, both are recovering but still in pain. Tyse slammed his head on the window and required ambulance care, while Danae is experiencing back and neck pain and is seeking medical treatment. Emotionally, the trauma of the crash has been overwhelming.

Financially, the damage is devastating. Their truck and toy hauler — everything they had worked so hard for — are completely totaled. To make matters worse, the man who caused the crash had no insurance. With no financial recovery from the driver, Danae and Tyse are left to rebuild from nothing.
