My name is Brennah, I’m number two of six kids and our mom, despite never having smoked once, was recently diagnosed with a rare form of stage 4 lung cancer that less than 5% of people get. It took months to diagnose, as well as a bunch of painful tests and trips to multiple doctors. She’s currently taking care of my three youngest siblings by herself. The medical bills have piled up and she hasn’t been able to get insurance or any sort of state assistance. She’s been getting treatment and is too sick to work, so bills are becoming a challenge for her as well. She needs help and wouldn’t have asked for herself, so I’m asking. She’s the true definition of an amazing mom. She’s been raising 6 kids on her own for 8 years now, three of us have grown up on her. But she’s still what keeps us together and strong and our three youngest siblings depend on her for everything. Now there’s no way for us to do anything to help with how she feels but this is something we can do, to try to help lighten her burdens during this time.
