Help Dana Scully, My Christmas Miracle Cat, Beat Cancer
Dana Scully is my six-year-old orange tabby and my constant companion through some of the hardest moments in my life. I rescued her during the early days of the pandemic — she was a street cat who slowly came to trust me, eventually choosing my home (and me) as her safe place. A few weeks later, I realized she was pregnant. She gave birth to five orange female tabbies — a genetic rarity — and I kept two of her kittens.
She slipped out before her spay appointment and became pregnant again. That time, things didn’t go smoothly. A kitten became stuck during labor, and I had to surrender her to the shelter to get the emergency C-section I couldn’t afford. I was devastated — but on Christmas, the foster family who read her file brought her back to me. She stayed. Through heartbreak, hospital visits, moving homes, and even across state lines from Arizona to Oregon — Dana Scully stayed.
She is the most loving, cuddly, loyal cat I’ve ever known — my Christmas miracle.
Recently, I found a red mass on her abdomen. The vet confirmed our worst fears: Dana has mammary cancer. Without surgery, the tumors will likely spread to her lungs and other mammary glands. They told me she may have as little as two months if left untreated — ten at most. But with surgery to remove the affected glands (and possible chemotherapy), she has a real chance at years.
I lost my main source of income just a week before getting this diagnosis. I'm doing everything I can — creating and selling art prints and offering custom hand- or pet-portrait commissions — but I need help to give Dana the care she deserves.
The estimated cost of her surgery and follow-up treatment is $3,000–$5,000.
If you’re able to contribute or share this fundraiser, I would be so deeply grateful. Every dollar helps. Every share helps. Dana chose me when she needed safety, and I want to be able to choose care for her now that she needs it most.
Thank you for reading and supporting us in any way you can.
With love,
